Icon of the Seas departs on maiden sea trials

After multiple delays due to weather conditions, Icon finally leaves Meyer Turku for the first time on sea trials. The ship will return to the shipyard next week. Once she arrives in the Baltic Sea, Icon will undergo many tests, such as measurements of ship motions in various sea states, followed by a series of analyses to determine comfort levels, the likelihood of seasickness, and hull damage.

When delivered in October, Icon of the Seas will become the largest cruise ship in the world at 250,000 tons. Overcoming her fleet sister, Wonder of the Seas.
